The third annual Recreational Sports Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament was held May 11, 2018, at the UGA Golf Course.

Proceeds from the event will allow the Division of Student Affairs to provide additional need-based scholarship support for student employees of the Ramsey Student Center. The tournament raised more than $15,000 to augment the endowed fund.

UGA recreational sports is one of the largest employers on campus, with over 550 student workers. More than one-third of the students in the “Ram Fam” (short for “Ramsey Family”) are in need of financial assistance to attend the university.

Growing this endowed scholarship fund allows UGA to further support Ram Fam students as they serve the 1 million+ visitors a year that come through the Ramsey Student Center. Students working in Recreational Sports programs and facilities gain practical experience in tandem with their education that they can use in their future professions, including customer service, conflict management, leadership skills, and time management.

The tournament was an all-day affair with two waves of play, maintaining the format of an 18-hole game. Lunch, snacks and a tee gift was provided to every participant. A total of 153 players and 23 corporate sponsors participated.
