C. Morgan Moore
For Morgan Moore (BBA ’13), it’s important to be known for more than his past.
Morgan supports the Terry College of Business on a number of different levels. Working with the Office of Gift and Estate Planning, his planned gift will create a need-based scholarship to benefit a student who grew up in the foster system, as Morgan did. Morgan makes monthly recurring gifts to the Terry College of Business through the Ten for Terry campaign, and he even sponsored a study space at the Business Learning Campus during the Build Terry Campaign. He is a true holistic giver to the University of Georgia.
“I don’t want other kids to struggle like I did. I want to give someone the opportunity to be better than they’ve ever dreamed. Not carry them; just provide a bridge to help them get to where they want to go.”
C. Morgan Moore (BBA ’13)
Morgan Moore came up through the foster care system. His experiences as a child without a traditional family instilled in him an understanding of the need to give back and a desire to invest in others. Now, Morgan aims to be a motivating factor for other kids in the system. “I want them to understand that their present circumstances don’t define them or limit the success that’s possible to achieve,” he said.
Morgan’s passion for the University of Georgia started as a kid with his love for Georgia Bulldog football. When it came time to think about college, he only applied to one school. “There was something comforting about staying ‘home’ at UGA,” Morgan explained.
He came to think of the Terry College of Business as family and he made it a goal to leave ‘the family’ better than he found it, which he’s doing through a planned gift and continuing monthly support.
Now a senior sales representative with Principal, Morgan continues building on his goal to leave a legacy at UGA. He said, “Terry College and UGA are beneficiaries of everything I have. I don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow. In case of an unfortunate circumstance, I didn’t want there to be any confusion about what I wanted. The people at UGA made it easy. I was able to specify exactly where I wanted my money to go.”
Morgan came to UGA with a determination to become known for more than his challenging past. Morgan said, “My UGA degree set me on a path for success. But I didn’t just want to make something of myself; it was important to leave a mark.” He got that opportunity when he made a commitment to name an alcove on the Business Learning Campus. The wording on the plaque allowed him to give thanks to those who have supported him on his journey.
Even before he graduated, Morgan started giving back by working with the office of Development and Alumni Relations to create a video for the Build Terry Campaign. The drive to give back continued after graduation. “Young alumni need to understand that you don’t have to give large sums of money to give back. Give what you can,” Morgan said. Morgan started by participating in the Ten for Terry campaign. “Just $10 a month. Giving even just $10 feels good. You’re changing something. You’re making a difference.”
“My passion for the University of Georgia is well known among my circle of friends. I challenge them to think about their college experience. What was something they learned? Was there someone they met who made a difference? How are they going to continue that pattern? There are a lot of creative ways to give back.”
