Impact of Giving

Meet the Student Callers: Aubrey Whitehead

October 5, 2017by Josh Mixon
student callers

In the first year of the public phase of the Commit to Georgia Campaign, University of Georgia donors set a new record in fundraising, contributing $227.8 million in new gifts and pledges. More than $1 million of that was raised by UGA’s student callers. Aubrey Whitehead ’18 is one of them, and we recently spoke to him to learn more about his UGA experience and what he enjoys most about working at the call center.

What brought you to UGA?

“The landscape architecture program. I’ve always known that I wanted to be an architect, and UGA has one of the top landscape architecture programs in the country.”

So far, what is your favorite UGA memory?

“Homecoming 2016. It was pretty unique. The parade was neat – seeing all the football players and the band walk through downtown was really awesome, it was the essence of Athens altogether.”

Why did you choose to become involved in the call center?

“You get great experience speaking to people and learning from alumni and the experiences they’ve had. The environment is great too – everybody’s friends here.”

What aspect of the job do you find most rewarding?

“Firstly, knowing that I’m maintaining a connection with those who graduated before me. Secondly, knowing that I’m helping UGA raise the money that they need in order to be the best school in the nation.”
