Celebrate UGA’s School of Medicine Achieving Accreditation
Your support fuels scholarships for the next wave of physicians.
The University of Georgia is excited to announce the new UGA School of Medicine has received preliminary accreditation from the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), enabling the university to begin recruiting its charter class of medical students for its Doctor of Medicine (MD) program.
UGA will soon begin accepting applications for the 2026-2027 academic year. The ability to offer scholarships to incoming students will be crucial. Upon graduation, the average medical student has accumulated more than $200,000 in medical education debt. Donor support of scholarships ensures UGA can recruit and invest in the brightest and most promising future physicians without the concern of financial barriers that would impede attendance.
To mark the arrival of our first 60 students, all gifts to the School of Medicine Scholarship fund will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $60,000, thanks to the Correll Family Foundation. Your gift today will go even further for our incoming students.
“Scholarships allow donors to be early investors in the School of Medicine’s success by creating a lasting legacy that will touch thousands of lives through the patients that our graduates will one day serve,” said Hudson Clare, senior director of development at the School of Medicine. “Endowed and current-use scholarships are both vital as we recruit our inaugural class of exceptional students and build a foundation for lasting impact.”
Can we count on your support of Bulldog physicians who will ensure a healthier Georgia?
Please note, matching funds will be disbursed and added to the fundraising total on March 27.
