Dr. James Matthew Garrett, 42 (BBA ’06, MED ’08, PHD ’14), of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away while vacationing in Spain, leaving a lasting legacy marked by compassion, leadership, and service. A proud “Triple Dawg” and accomplished professional, Matthew made a lasting impact in education, organizational development, and human rights advocacy. Remembered for his warmth, integrity, and deep love for family, friends, and his Georgia roots, his life was a powerful example of living with purpose and heart.

To honor Matthew’s lasting legacy, we invite you to contribute to the UGA Miracle Impact Fund. Matt’s significant impact was felt across campus, but Dance Marathon held a special place in Matthew’s heart, and his influence on the organization was profound. From participant to committee member, then morale director, and ultimately executive director in 2006, Matthew’s leadership transformed UGA Miracle’s structure and established the foundation for its continued growth.
