Going Bee-yond the Expected

Going Bee-yond the Expected

The Bees are currently out of honey; however if you would like to make a gift to support the Vet Bee Program it would be sweet!

UGA College of Veterinary Medicine has joined the fight to save the bees! We are the first and only vet school to include these important pollinators into our curriculum. Incorporating honeybee medicine is important, because:
Healing Honey

  • Apiaries can be used to expose veterinary students to important clinical competencies.
  • And, veterinary expertise is needed to improve honeybee health.

Working with honeybees provides a great teaching opportunity for veterinary students during all four years of their training and exposes future veterinarians to their role in maintaining honeybee health. Armed with an exposure to and education in honeybee medicine, future UGA graduates will be able treat a house call to an apiary with the same level of comfort and expertise as they would bring to any other house call, whether for a pet or a farm animal.

Thank you for supporting this special program. The first 80 gifts of $25 or more will receive our “Healing Honey”, harvested right here at the UGA Veterinary Teaching Hospital, to enjoy.

*The tax deductible amount of your donation will be reduced by the fair market value of the honey ($4). If you would like to receive multiple jars of honey, please make separate gifts for each jar. Qualifying donors will have their honey shipped in 2-4 weeks.

Thank You to Our Donors
