Vet Med is Buzzing with Innovation
Help Us Train Vets to Save the Swarm
We’re proud to be the first veterinary school in the nation to integrate honeybee medicine into our curriculum, because saving the bees means saving our future.
Why honeybee medicine matters:
- Apiaries give veterinary students hands-on experience with essential clinical skills.
- Honeybee health is critical to agriculture, ecosystems and food security — and veterinarians have a vital role to play.

Each bottle contains 3 oz of honey
Throughout all four years of training, our students work directly with honeybees, gaining unique insights into pollinator care. By the time they graduate, UGA veterinarians are equipped to treat an apiary visit with the same confidence and skill as any other animal care call—be it for a beloved pet or a farm animal.
