Help Close the Gap for BSW Students

A social work education is an investment in the future of Georgia’s communities. But for many UGA Bachelor of Social Work students, the cost of earning that degree extends well beyond tuition and fees.

HOPE and Zell Miller scholarships help cover tuition and fees for many in-state students, but they do not cover the full cost of attendance. In 2025–26, 49% of our BSW students demonstrated financial need, with an average $10,695 gap in aid before loans and Federal Work-Study. Even after those resources, students faced an average $7,984 gap.

Financial uncertainty is creating additional challenges for students already struggling to meet the true cost of college.

Scholarships can close that gap without adding to a student’s debt. In 2025–26, 30 BSW students benefited from UGA scholarships. Your support can help more students stay focused on their education, complete their degrees and enter the social work profession prepared to serve communities across Georgia.

Invest in a BSW student today. Help make sure financial barriers do not stand between a student and a career dedicated to helping others.
