Save the Alligators
Down in the Okefenokee Swamp, a true Southern legend roams: the American Alligator. These ancient reptiles have ruled the wetlands for millions of years, surviving ice ages, hurricanes, and even near-extinction. Now, it’s our turn to ensure they survive for generations to come.
To celebrate National Alligator Day 2025, UGA Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant is raising $1,500 to advance this work and every donation supports vital alligator research and conservation efforts.
Wait… Bulldogs Helping Gators?!
We know, Bulldog Nation—this feels weird. But trust us, it’s for a good cause.
Recently featured on GPB’s EcoSense and NBC’s newly released series, The Americas, UGA researchers have spent nearly a decade educating the state on the keys to alligator survival. From satellite tracking and trail cameras to genetic mapping, your donation helps decode alligator behavior, improving and protecting a vital part of Georgia’s ecosystem.
Alligators are vital to Georgia’s wetlands. They shape ecosystems, balance food chains, and even help scientists track the health of entire habitats. Protecting them means protecting one of our state’s most important natural sites.
May 29 is National Alligator Day – join the mission. Your gift supports cutting-edge research, hands-on education, and a future where Georgia’s alligators, and swamps, keep thriving.
