“The university means so much to us and has been such a BIG part of our lives. We want to continue to be engaged and involved in the future of UGA.”
Theirs is a UGA love story. Anne (BBA ’90) and Brian (BBA ’91) met while students and have made the University of Georgia an integral part of their lives ever since.
Brian served on the UGA Board of Visitors and the Alumni Board for the Terry College of Business. Anne has served as secretary of the Women of UGA Leadership Council and is currently serving on the UGA Alumni Association Board of Directors. Their condo in Athens allows frequent attendance at university events, but the desire to still do more led the couple to endow the Beckwith Senior Scholarship to help Terry College seniors who have encountered obstacles get to the finish line.
Anne explains, “It would be a tragedy to invest three years into an education, only to drop out. By helping seniors finish, we’re creating productive members of society. It’s a good investment in the future.”
“The university means so much to us and has been such a BIG part of our lives. We want to continue to be engaged and involved in the future of UGA.”
In addition to the endowment, the Beckwiths have included bequests to the UGA Foundation in their wills. Brian explains, “We want to do everything we can and hopefully inspire the same level of involvement for others.” Anne adds, “Find something personally meaningful to you. There are so many opportunities and gaps to fill.”
