Building Industry Partnerships That Pay
University-Industry relationships can be challenging to navigate. Faculty who take the time to understand business perspectives are more likely to gain the trust it takes to establish long-term, mutually beneficial relationships. In the Building Industry Partnerships That Pay video, researchers will find tips for connecting with potential business partners, as well as valuable suggestions for framing their research interests as an avenue to address business needs.
Additional insights on industry collaborations can be found in the Research Live: Industry Collaborations Archives.

What is the Office of Business Engagement?
Corporations no longer consider themselves “donors” to academia, rather, they are “investors,” and a growing trend in the Georgia business community is that companies are viewing universities as “partnership” relationships. Our Business Engagement strategies will be developing a return on their investment, or turning these partnerships into funding mechanisms.
What does UGA offer in these partnerships?
We want to provide strategic benefits such as workforce development & future employees; sponsored research; new technologies; employee training; Executive education; economic development; public service and outreach.
Our company is interested in visiting UGA and meeting several different departments and centers. Can OBE help?
Yes! Contact Assistant Director of Business Engagement Elizabeth Willimon.
